Terroir

It’s not a breed of dog!

Wine enthusiasts love to throw around the word terroir when comparing wine, but what does it mean? It’s a French term used to describe a huge number of variables that influence the grapes on the vineyard. They all contribute to what we call a “sense of place” in wine. Scientists and wine makers have spent years trying to define this complex and interesting term, but we will boil it down to its essence. Join the Intoxicating Professor: Heather McKechney, as we dive into the science of terroir. You’ll sample five wines that each uniquely represent their terroir, leaving you with the knowledge to hold your own on the subject at your next wine and cheese party!
